Smelting and Refining About Imperial Smelting and Refining

Imperial Smelting and Refining

Since 1914, Imperial has dedicated itself to providing the customer with the highest quality product and service, becoming the most reliable and broad-based manufacturer of precious metals products in Canada. Today, Imperial Smelting & Refining Co. is Canada's largest, full service precious metals manufacturer and refiner. We also supply a growing range of US and worldwide clients with gold, silver and platinum products. Ready-Stock™ products, custom-made products and refining services form the foundation of business at Imperial.

Ready-Stock™ Catalogue Division  meets the exact needs of both the small repair shop and the medium-sized jeweler who require instant product (casting grain, solder, findings, wire, sheet or tubing). Our Catalogue Division ships small volumes to customers the same business day. So for all your immediate needs, our Ready-Stock Catalogue Division is your best choice.

Custom-Manufactured Products Division   makes products to your specifications, ensuring compositional, dimensional and physical requirements are met consistently. Please visit our Custom Quotation page for estimates on a variety of products.

Refining Services  provide all users of precious metals the opportunity to recover scrap and waste to their financial advantage. Trusting relationships are developed through fair and consistent settlements. Please see our Refining page for your settlement options.

History
Imperial's founder, Sydney Bromwich, formed the company in 1914. He was succeeded by his son, Fred Bromwich, in 1929 and then by grandson, Tim Bromwich, in 1963. The theme of a family ran business remains as Imperial joins the Umicore family of companies and continues to serve its multitude of customers throughout North America.

Imperial is committed in developing innovative products that provide a competitive edge for its customers. Our efforts have been recognized internationally through the Research Award for "Outstanding Innovation in Research in the Jewellery Industry" and the Industry Leader Award for "Significant Contribution by a Manufacturer Sharing Quality Technical Information with the Industry". Imperial is also recognized as one of "Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies" - having achieved this distinction numerous times since initially winning the award in 1997 and re-qualifying in 2005.

The team at Imperial takes great pride in its corporate achievements. Our employees are committed in delivering the highest level in customer service and will always strive for excellence in everything Imperial does.

Our Promise
Imperial's longevity in the precious metals industry is not a solitary accomplishment. It's a sustained record of successful partnerships with our many customers across North America. Despite significant changes in the industry over the last nine decades, we remain faithful to our commitment as a primary manufacturer and refiner.

The launching of the Ready-Stock™ Division in 2000 is just one measure of Imperial's steadfast commitment. The goal was to provide rapid shipment of the products that are most often used and this was achieved by readily carrying an extensive range of pre-made Ready-Stock™ items - provided by a dedicated team of Customer Service personnel.

Imperial is pleased to present the 2nd Edition of the Ready-Stock™ Catalogue. It offers a comprehensive range of casting grain, findings, plate, solder tube and wire products to satisfy the basic material needs of most jewelers. In addition, a range of popular plain wedding bands have been included in the catalogue to address increased customer demands in those products.

Beyond the Ready-Stock™ Catalogue selections, Imperial continues to provide an extensive range of quality products and unique alloys for "custom applications". These custom-manufactured items are available only by special order through our Head Office located in Markham, Ontario and North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Custom products are intended for use in a variety of technical applications in larger jewelry manufacturing operations and specific industrial clients.

Imperial's commitment to providing customers with the most comprehensive selection of products in the precious metals industry will drive the continuous improvement in the Ready-Stock™ Catalogue Operations. We are proud of our past accomplishments and we are confident that customers will benefit from initiatives that we make now and in the future.
