Metal and Flask Temperatures The liquidus temperature is the temperature at which the alloy is fully liquid. (Solidus is the temperature at which the metal starts to melt). To facilitate filling your flask, a charge of superheat between 30 and 100 Celcius above the liquidus is needed. A general guideline is +30°C for large pieces, +60°C for medium pieces and +100°C for small and intricate itmes. Corresponding flask temperatures of 900 Fahrenheit, 1000°F and 1100°F are also recommended. Models with complex geometry will require changes to these guidelines so be prepared to experiment and adapt to the uniqueness of your styles.
